As an artist who in his own words created works “according to the principles of chance” as “a way to remove my own personality,” it is not surprising that the late Ellsworth Kelly was drawn to Mallarmé’s "A Throw of the Dice Will Never Abolish Chance." In this Limited Editions Club publication, the text of Mallarmé’s poem is interspersed with Kelly’s lithographs, their abstract compositions created in response to the shape and movement of Mallarmé’s text layout.
