Leyen was an Antwerp art collector. Cornelis de Bie dedicated a section of his Gulden Cabinet to Leyen, which begins "Who is there who does not rely upon the eye of Van Leyen / And does not completely trust that sharp eye's judgment / When buying any piece of art?" De Bie then describes two works in Leyen's collection, in which two figures are painted by Erasmus Quellinus. See Elizabeth Honig, Painting & the Market in Early Modern Antwerp, p209.

Inscribed: Recto: in plate: "Anthoine van Leyen / Grand amateur des artes, peintures, etc. / N'admirer pas icy la grace exterieur, / C'est l'ombre du subiect: considerer le coeur / Rempli de mill vertus, et l'invisible esprit, / Dont les perfections iamais burin n'acquit."; "E. Quellinus pinxit"; "Richard Collin sculpsit 1661"
