A rectangular quilt composed of 56 blocks, each approximately 10 to 10-3/4" square. Blocks of plain white cotton alternate with pieced blocks, each composed of a white muslin square set on point within a solid pink block. Each completely white block is quilted with a floral design. Each white square within a pink block is decorated with an outline-embroidered floral design worked in pink threads. The entire pieced block is quilted in diamond or squares on point. The quilt is surrounded with a solid white inner border, and a solid pink outer border, both of which are approximately 2-1/2 to 3" wide. Both borders are quilted in rope and diamond patterns. The quilt is both hand and machine sewn. (Machine stitches are seen in the corners, which are mitered). Quilting is by hand with approximately 18-19 stitches per inch (top and bottom) using white cotton(?) thread. The edges of the quilt are bound in 1/2" strips of pink cotton applied on the bias with about 1/4" on each side. The biding is attached from the front and brought to the back. The edges are straight, but all corners are rounded. Cotton batting is used between the layers. The backing is seamed of white cotton 32-1/2", 31-1/2" and 21-3/4" respectively.
