The exterior side is decorated with a diaper band at the rim, and upright leaves around the foot. The pierced lozenges, filled with glaze and translucent, are arranged in eight patterns of two types, with points facing outward making flowers or with points facing to the side making wreathes; two patterns are separated by three horizontal lozenges arranged in a vertical line. The interior is decorated with four bats dividing a band of "hong" [red] characters into two groups of five; at the bottom of the side, a single plain line; within double lines encircling the bottom of the bowl a dragon is faced frontally, its front legs with claws extended out to each side, walking on its back legs; the spiky spine is twisted from the right to left side of the body; a pearl hangs surrounded by wispy clouds beneath the dragon's chest.
The bowl is heavy in weight for its size, the pierced work sloppily executed especially the vertical rows of three lozenges.
