Amitabha, the Buddha of Infinite Light, is considered the spiritual father or guide who helped Avalokitesvara (Guanyin) attain enlightment.
The Buddha of Infinite Light is the central focus of the Pure Land, school or tradition. Amitabha presides over the Pure Land or Western Paradise, where he welcomes faithful followers to join him in escaping endless rebirth.
