Portrait bust (profile) in red velvet presentation case. Neo-classical church and inscription on reverse commemorating Gibbon's career. 1911 medal struck to commemorate James Cardinal Gibbons. Struck in Bronze by the Medallic Art Company, it is 70 mm (2 3/4") in diameter - with a Portrait of Cardinal Gibbons and the Basilica in Baltimore, Maryland.

Inscribed: Obverse: "James Cardianl Gibbons / [signed] J.M. Miller / Fecit." Reverse: "SACERSOS.30.JUN.1861.+ EPISCOPUS.16.AUG.1868 ARCHIEPISCOPUS. 3.OCT.1877 CARDINALS.30.JUN.1886. / 1861 - 1911 / EMITTE / SPIRITUM / TUUM [send forth thy spirit]"
