The long-lived Tiffany & Company, founded by Lewis Comfort Tiffany’s father in 1837, gradually changed the style of its products over the decades to keep up with changing fashions. This imposing charger, far simpler than earlier silver produced by Tiffany & Co., relies on robust hammered lobes radiating outward from a stylized engraved monogram towards a boldly shaped lip to express the value of hand-craft, a cornerstone of Arts and Crafts aesthetics.
