This cocktail shaker in the shape of a Zeppelin was made in the heyday of Zeppelin travel and when cocktails signaled a spirit of experimentation and futurity. During the late 1920s and 1930s, the hydrogen-filled airships regularly crossed the Atlantic to connect Germany, Brazil, and the United States. The comfortable passenger accommodations
included viewing lounges and cocktail bars. Explosions and crashes, most tragically the 1937 Hindenburg disaster at Lakehurst, New Jersey, ended their use.
