Pottery incense burners were popular in Guangdong tombs during the Han period (202 BCE-220 CE), when sea trade brought incense to southern China. Han dynasty texts refer to incense, such as frankincense and camphor, imported from India, the Arabian Peninsula, and possibly Africa.
