The jar has an unglazed footrim, tall, ovoid body, and high neck covered by a rounded lid; the lid is atttached to the body (with plaster?). The lid is decorated on top with a lotus spray and on the side with a band of pendant white-edged petals. The jar is decorated with two large vertical panels scalloped at the top and bottom, and with two small connecting panels. The panels are defined by heavy blue lines between two thin blue lines. One large panel contains a flowering fruit tree which grows from a fantastic rock. Above and to the left of the tree there is a tiny flying insect. The other large panel, on the opposite side of the body, contains a wicker backet filled with lotus blossoms and leaves. The basket has a high handle with a bow at the top. The two connecting panels are filled with a dash diaper pattern. Above and below the main panels, nearly round medallions defined by two heavy blue lines; these contain auspicious symbols - artemisia leaf, ribbon and pearl a scroll (above the basket) and a ruyi head (above the tree). The space surrounding the medallions is filled with lotus flower-and-leaf scrolls. There is a band of chevrons at the base of the neck and above the foot.
