The pencil inscription implies that this is a "false" impression and the inscription in ink that it is a reproductive process. According to Guiffrey, only 4 impressions exist "il n'existe de cette eau forte que deux épreuves sur vergé et deux sur chine"; Lucas has four impressions (including this one) and the NYPL (S. P. Avery Collection) holds two impressions.
