An abstract embroidery in rectangular format interpreting a shrub trained against a wall in a manner called "espolier." Vertical elements vaguely similar to tree limbs appear to rise upward from a central stalk or stem. Circular areas or "worms" fill spaces between and within these limbs. The embroidery is worked in a variety of hand spun and uneven diameter wool yards, cording, twine, and chenille threads as well as various thicknesses and types of metallic thread texture in white, off white, silver metallic, pale gray, medium and dark gray [or grey green],and black threads created from angora, wool linen, cotton, and rayon. Wood beads, sequins, and black beads fill shapes and add texture. In addition to couching stitches (mentioned as the only type of stitch used by the artist), there are stem, knotted, running, and a possible variation of chain stitches. The embroidery is worked on and unusual bright red open weave linen (or possibly linen blend) ground, which is lustrous. The work is signed with initials in threads at lower left. A modern black frame with metallic silver edging surrounds the embroidery. It is unglazed.
