The length of silk consisting of a reversible checkerboard of background colors with designs in contrasting colors created by alternating colors or warps and wefts. Warp threads are arranged in 2 inch wide bands in the following colors: light blue, white, dark blue, rose, green, white, medium blue, purple, repeatedtwice across the width. Weft threads are arranged in 1-3/4 inch bands in the following colors: rose, dark blue, yellow, light blue, purple, medium blue, white, and green repeated down the length of the warp. Eight blocks form the full repeat,, which contains the symbol for longevity, floral motifs, and other symbols.
The Baltimore Museum of Art by gift, 2002; Mr. and Mrs. Cameron Slack, Gibson Island, Maryland, by inheritance; collected in the early 1920s by Dr. and Mrs. Henry Slack when they lived in China
