X-frame brown-painted folding stool with attached wrought-iron folding frame to support back upholstery. Bound strips of carpet form seat of chair and slip over back support. This carpeting is similar to a Hammersmith rug with Chinese-inspired design c. 1880, as illustrated on page 92 of Linda Parry's 'William Morris Textiles,' New York, Avenel, New Jersey: Crescent Books, 1983.
