Drawing published in "Life," a weekly magazine published by the Life Publishing Company in New York between 1883 and 1936 (a predecessor of sorts to "The New Yorker"). Dove most likely made this drawing between 1903, when he moved to New York to become an illustrator, and 1908, when he traveled to Europe.
