The portrait is based on Van Dyck's painting, now in the collection of the Gemäldegalerie, Berlin (inv. no. 782).
This print was included in the last French edition of the 'Iconographie' published in 1759. It does not conform in size or format with the Iconography series proper and instead was originally conceived as a singly-issued grand portrait print of a notable individual.
