Head portion of solid clay figure representing Huehueteotl, the "Old God" of Central Mexico (household deity, 'fundamental god of the hearth'). Facial details are modeled and incised. This example shows distorted cheeks, false beard, and mohawk hair style. Pierced ears may have been embellished with wood or shell disks. Pin hole at base of neck where it was attached to larger sculpture, armature, etc. See also 1993.356, 1993.377, 1993.344.
