Head portion of hollow figure representing Huehueteotl, the "Old God" of Central Mexico (household deity, 'fundamental god of the hearth'). Facial details are modeled and incised. This example shows mouth bearing two fang-like teeth, distorted cheeks, beaded collar, and plain, wide head band. Hole at base of head where it was attached to larger sculpture, armature, etc. This piece may be part of an articulated figure. See also 1993.356, 1993.377, 1993.342.
