Based on the satirical epic poem by Carl Arnold Kortum, "Leben, Meinungen und Thaten von Hieronymus Jobs dem Kandidaten (Der Jobsiade)," first published in 1784, which tells the story of Hieronymous Jobs, a theology student. The prints in this series are after drawings dated c. 1843 by Johann Peter Hasenclever. There are three prints from the series in the Garrett Collection (1946.112.12305 - 1946.112.12307).
