Forster (1729-1798) was a Calvinist pastor and naturalist who accompanied James Cook's second expedition (1772-1775). Part of a series of engravings Bause made after Graff's portraits.

Inscribed: Recto: in plate: " I. R. Forster"; "Ant Graff pinx / zu finden in Leipzig bey Bause / I. F. Bause sculps Lips 1781"; "Diese Pflantze in nehmlicher Größe hat Herr Prof. Forster in Neu Seeland entdeckt, und Linne ihm su Ehren / Forstera benennt"
