Object Number 1971.6.3
During the 13th century, the Longquan kilns grew in number and size; greater standardization improved efficiency. Large dishes, such as this example, may have been ordered initially by Muslims living in Quanzhou in Fujian Province, an important Chinese port for overseas trade from about 1000 to 1400.
