Full size, rectangular applique quilt in a variation of the "Friendship Dahlia" pattern featuring repeating blocks of a simple floral design with circular center, 8 oblong petals, and stem set on point within grid created by sashing.
Quilt is a variation of the "Friendship Dahlia" pattern consisting of a simple floral design with circular center and 8 oblong petals. This variation has a curved stem on a diagonal whereas others often have a straight stem. It is constructed of 32 muslin blocks, each approximately 12 to 12-1/2 inch square, appliquéd with motif or flower with solid colored circular center and eight petals of various printed cotton fabrics. Blocks are separated by 2-1/2 inch wide sashing and set in a background of solid dark lavender cotton. The appliqué is outlined in black thread, but appliquéd with white thread. The reverse is of white muslin. The binding is the same dark lavender and bound on the bias with approximately 1/2 to 3/4 inch on each side. The reverse is white muslin.
