From 1913 through 1914, dealer Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler (1884–1979) printed a group of woodcuts by Maurice de Vlaminck featuring picturesque views of French towns, both near Paris and in the southern ports of France. These works show the evolution of the artist’s style from his earlier Fauve period of simplification and flattened shapes to a more volumetric, three-dimensional view of the world around him.
