Two nearly identical winged figures, their arched bodies intertwined, appear to hover in midair. Rodin created "Les Benedictions" to sit atop a large, circular, arcaded tower dedicated to the working masses. Encased within the tower was a column covered with sculptural reliefs depicting various trades placed in ascending order, beginning with such occupations as carpentry and masonry, and culmination beneath the pair of figures which representation of the intellectual professions of artist and writer. Of his design Robin noted, "...my tower rising towards the heavens is meant to symbolize the apotheosis of labor, crowned by the inspiring spirits of work." Although the project was never realized, "Les Benedictions" remains a moving testament to his noble concept.
