Mary Ruthven was lady-in-waiting to Henrietta Maria, and wife of Van Dyck (married 1639) and later Sir Richard Pryse (c.1622 - 1645). The engraving is after the painting by Van Dyck, now in the collection of the Museo del Prado, Madrid.
