Zamble masks combine the jaws of a leopard with the horns of an antelope. Zamble, as "beautiful man," is followed in appearance by his wife, Gu, and his wild and grotesque brother, Zauli. The three masks represent creatures that belonged to the bush in the days of the ancestors. An unmasked dancer holds the leopard skin on Zamble's back and accompanies him in his energetic dance.
