Inscribed: Paper tag attached to handle: 'Aboriginal Craft/ From the Methodist Mission/ Elcho Island/ Amhem Land'. Hand-written on reverse side of tag: '3.00' in top left corner; hand-written below that: 'This traditional Dilly Bag was/ made by Aboriginal Women living/ in the midst of Amhem Land./ To make the string they had to chew the bark of trees then twist/ the fibres into string. Then began the/ laborious task of plaiting the bag.'
