One of a group of proofs, printed on Japan paper, by Baude in the Lucas Collection. These wood engravings were first published as illustrations in Harper's New Monthly Magazine and later appeared in published volumes by Theodore Child. This one first appeared in Theodore Child, "American Artists at the Paris Exhibition," Harper's New Monthly Magazine, Vol. 79, Issue 472, September 1889, p.494.
