Full length tailored "trench" coat with depiction in appliqué, paint, buttons, and other materials of “The Blue Nude" by Henri Matisse. Coat body is A-line with straight, narrow, set-in sleeves. The majority of the coat is of green (raw silk). Over this is appliquéd an image of the "Blue Nude" from Matisse's painting in pink wool. The shoulders and breasts hang out over the body of the coat as would the collar of a trench coat. The hips come out to one side, thus hiding a pocket set within the side seam. The fabric used to represent the Blue Nude's body is shaded using blue paint and by a burning or scorching process, that creates some yellowish highlights. Machine embroidery in various colors is used to define lines of body parts, such as the line of the breasts and thighs. Red buttons represent nipples and a plastic/leather is sewn in an oval to represent the navel. One coat arm is pink on top and green on the reverse; the other is green as is the majority of the coat, representing the tropical background of the painting. The arm of the figure on this side is appliquéd in pink across the reverse, hanging over the body of the coat like a collar. Appliqués of floral designs are scattered at the bottom front of the coat. The reverse is largely made up of a multicolored abstract woven design and mustard-yellow and lavender shades of synthetic suede-like fabric. The coat is lined in yellow polyester with outline drawings of dogs in red and black. The front facing panels are of striped silk. A matching neck scarf of the yellow fabric is part of the ensemble.
