After having learned the basic etching skills under the tuition of Boucher and Cochin-her earliest dated prints (1751) are etchings after Boucher's drawings-Pompadour completed her "Suite D'Estampes Gravées Par Madame La Marquise De Pompadour d'Après les Pierres gravées de Guay Graveur du Roy" in 1755, including a frontispiece and fifty-two etchings retouched with burin after the cameos and engraved gemstones of Jacques Guay (1711-1797).
