Christian von Mechel published his "Oeuvre de Jean Holbein, ou, Recueil de gravures d’après ses plus beaux ouvrages, accompagnés d’explications historiques et critiques" (Basle: G. Haas, 1780-95) in four parts in one volume. The first part, dedicated to George III, includes 12 plates that encompass Mechel's interpretation of Hans Holbein's series "The Dance of Death."
