At bottom of page, below composition, inscription reading: "Lord Chatham is represented holding the Cap of Liberty, and leaning on a/ Rudder, the Emblem of his Office of Prime Minister. He is looking on the City/ with Complacency, and the City is looking up to him, & pointing to the Figure of/ Commerce, whom he is receiving unto his Protection. The Quarters of the Globe/ from the Train of Commerce, & are pouring Plenty into the Lap of Britannia." Below this, "The leading Idea in this ?....Liberty of his Country - his Attention to the Commercial Interests of these Kingdoms, &/ the Effect his Administration had on the Affluence & Happiness of the Nation.," Below, at left, "John Bacon Invt." In center, "Publish'd as the Act directs Nov. 13, 1779."
