Qingbai ware, like this bowl with a strong, thin body and bright, shiny glaze, was completely unique in the 12th- and 13th-century world and widely traded. Fragments of this Chinese porcelain have been recovered from archaeological excavations in Fustat, Egypt, during the 1930s and Tadmekka, Mali, in 2005.
