Eze Nwanyi is a woman worth fighting for. This mask, worn by a man, is known as the “Queen of Women” and she embodies the Igbo feminine ideal. Her steps are graceful, her comportment dignified at all times. As the personification of a wealthy and gracious woman, the mask is painted white to call attention to the marks of status visible at her temples and cheeks, as well as the high-crested coiffure that includes representations of decorative combs above her ears.
