Associated with the Barbizon School that flourished in the mid-nineteenth century in France, Jacque was both a printmaker and a painter who focused on landscapes, farm animals, and the rustic life of the French countryside. In a departure from his usual subjects, here, Jacque has painted two vases filled with flowers bathed in a strong, vibrant light.
