Short length of Renaissance-style fabric, with Gothic influences woven in a Venetian pattern documented from the 2nd quarter of the 15th century. The pattern includes large diagonal branching motifs with undulating fronds and pomegranate-type blooms surrounded by animals, including a lion on one side of the stem and a dog on the other. A falcon also appears to one side of the bloom and a set of water birds (ducks?) on the other. The vertical design is crossed by a thin horizontal border motif of an undulating vine with stylized leaves. Areas between larger motifs are filled with smaller floral designs, possibly including carnations. The fabric is composed of all dark pink silk (rayon?) warp threads and wefts of exclusively metallic wrapped threads. The design is reversible with animals, flowers, etc. The textile is cut at the top and bottom. The side edges are selvages.
