Oval shaped Victorian period sewing box or case covered in brown leather and implements. The box lid is also oval with a glass allowing the objects below to be viewed without opening. The case is lined in purple silk (now faded in most places to a brown) with leather strap holding implements. These include scissors, needle case, stiletto, and two bodkins - one flat and narrow and one with wide eye. Implements are plain and without ornament except for their brass finish. Top shelf on which the sewing implements rest lifts out to reveal a compartment below which now houses a piece of wax in the shape of a thimble to which is attached to a silk purple/grey ribbon. Also in the box, although perhaps not original to it is a package of 10 "Sharps 8" needles in black paper with labels identifying the manufacture, etc.
