Five beautifully-carved plumes extend from the top of the tapered center splat into the top center of the crest rail. The carved drapery swags strengthen the thinner reeded members of the back splat, whose elements all spring from a pedestal base with acanthus carving. The chair's front legs are carved on two sides with bellflower drops and half-floral rosettes instead of the more usual inlaid bellflowers. At the bottom edge of the veneered half-uphostered seat rails, there is a band of light wood inlay. The spade feet are cut from the solid.
