When compared to other side chairs of this period, there is a notable absence of turned members. The matching chairs have an architectural quality in the blocking on the legs, in the shape and design of the chair back, and in their marked verticality. An examination of the slip-seat frame reveals the original covering was black leather, but the current seat covering is made of black haircloth upholstery.
