Pink silk satin folded boudoir case - probably a handkerchief press, but possibly for gloves or hosiery, composed of machine-quilted material with a square whitework and lace overlay on top. Designs in handmade cutwork bobbin lace and embroidery in white on white covers the top. There is a small button closure. Corded edge also in pink silk. Exquisite design and workmanship.
The Baltimore Museum of Art by gift, 2013; Mary C. H. Parr, Glyndon, MD, by inheritance from her mother Mary Weaver (maiden name), Georgetown, Washington, D.C.; possibly owned originally by Catherine Weaver (American, born c. 1882, died 1940), Mary Weaver's sister (donor's great aunt).
