Spoon with Dragon-Head Handle

101-200

Physical Qualities Earthenware with green lead glaze, 2 5/8 x 5 1/4 x 2 5/8 in. (6.5 x 13.3 x 6.5 cm.)
Credit Line Gift of Lawrason Riggs of J
Object Number 1945.59.13.1
The spoon was covered with a dark green glaze that would have closely resembled the metal originals they copy. Exposure to moisture caused the glaze to deteriorate, lightening in color and assuming some iridescence.
The Baltimore Museum of Art by gift, 1945; Lawrason Riggs of J, Baltimore; from his uncle, General Lawrason Riggs, Baltimore (1861-1940)
