Stem Cup with Hunting Scene

601-800

Physical Qualities Gilt metal alloy, 2 5/16 H x 2 Diam. in. (5.8 x 5 cm.)
Credit Line Gift of Terri and Erwin Harris, Baltimore, in Memory of Dr. Robert A. Milch
Object Number 1991.214
Small cup with flaring foot, knobbed stem, rounded body which is flattened above stem and has a raised ring below the lip, and flaring rim. The decoration consists of two mounted hunters each pursuing a rabbit and a deer, against a stamped or incised ring background. It is not possible to determine position of the hunters, as the decoration is both faint (on one side) and obscured by an old repair (on the other side).
