One of a number of proof wood engravings on Japan paper in the Lucas Collection which were published as illustrations to articles or books related to Theodore Child. This one appeared in Philippe Burty, "Léon Bonvin," Harper's New Monthly Magazine, vol. 72, issue 427 (December 1885), p. 47.
