Silver teapot made by Simon Wedge, Sr., c. 1810. Part of a 5-piece coffee/tea set. This teapot's ovoid shape is balanced on either side by an S-shaped spout with and applied leaf at the tip and an Empire-style bracket wooden handle. It is raised upon an oval, stepped pedestal foot. The body is ornamented with deep gadrooning and the domed lid is topped with an urn finial. One side is engraved 'IAR' in a beautiful foliate script.

Inscribed: Engraved monogram "IAR" (almost illegible)

Markings: Stamped letters "S", "W", eagle's head facing left inside an oval (considered his earliest mark)
