Based on Manet's painting, Boy with a Sword, 1861 (Metropolitan Museum of Art; Rouart and Wildenstein 37). This impression falls between Harris' second and third states; it is with the background zigzag hatching, but before the fine horizontal lines in front of the figure on the ground. Fisher describes this print as "etching, roulette, bitten tone" but this cataloguer (NS) cannot identify roulette work.
