Although considered an ancient art form, Puebloan pottery styles are not static. Potters have continually experimented and borrowed to vary their forms and designs. Turn-of-the-century Acoma potters created water jars which differed from their mid-nineteenth century precursors (photo) by having a shorter neck and under-body and the greatest diameter above the mid-line of the vessel.
