Ornamented with double wefts and half twist overlay twining, this vessel takes the form of a storage basket or boiling basket. Storage vessels were used to hold items such as acorns and were often ornamented with overlay twining. Boiling baskets were used to cook acorn gruel by placing hot stones into the contents. The contents were agitated to prevent the basket from burning. Boiling baskets were not always ornamented with a double weft, however.
