A rectangular panel consisting of a partial curtain panel (approximately the bottom third) of voided ciselé silk velvet in a gold colorway. The ground of the center field is of cut dark gold velvet pile. The border area, defined by scalloped edges on the inner side, is woven with a design of flowing peacock feathers in both cut and uncut pile entwined with small flowers on a voided yellow-gold satin ground. The design is produced through the use of cut pile for the interior of the feathers and uncut pile as an outline and veining, with no other coloring. The flat voided satin ground creates a sharp contrast to the pattern in color and texture. This peacock feather design continues down the (viewer's) left side of the fabric panel and meets with a corner motif composed of longer feathers. This panel, at its complete length would have been added to another in which the field was entirely of cut pile with a ciselé border similar to that along the sides continuing along the bottom.
The vertical pattern repeat is not discernable from this piece, which does not continue the full height of the curtain. The horizontal repeat is the full width. Top and bottom edges are cut. The side edges are selvages.
