Baby Art Date

Baby Art Date is a program designed for children under 2 years old and their caregivers to explore and learn together at the Baltimore Museum of Art.

Available Sessions

During this specialized program, museum educators will lead participants through multi-sensory experiences in the galleries that support language, physical, and emotional development and demonstrate ways to engage young children with art.

Registration is required.

Morning (10–11 a.m.)

For babies on the move (approximately 10–23 months old)

Afternoon (1–2 p.m.)

For babies who are not yet crawling (approximately 0–10 months old)

Cost

Free for BMA Members; $5 per baby for Non-Members (non-refundable, non-transferable).

Baby Art Date Frequently Asked Questions

Register for the session that best suits your baby at the time of registration—and no need to worry if your baby decides to hit a new milestone mid-series. We’ll celebrate right along with you!

No problem! We are ready to welcome all the noises, crawling, and slobbering that come with young children.

Strollers are welcome in the Museum, but we recommend you hold your baby or use a front-wearing carrier.

No, back carriers and backpacks are not permitted in the galleries.

To keep the experience intimate and engaging for our art babies, we ask that only children in the program’s age range attend.

Check out Family Art Adventures, designed for families with children 0–5 years old. Free Family Sunday programming is suitable for families with children 6 years old and up.

You can feed your baby in the Museum’s Quiet Room, the Classroom (while the program is in session), in the Zamoiski East Lobby, or in the BMA Sculpture Gardens (weather permitting). Food and drink are not permitted in the galleries.

All restrooms have baby changing stations. A Family Restroom is located in the Zamoiski East Lobby.

Rates for the Museum’s parking lot are $9 for BMA Members and $12 for Non-Members. There is also metered street parking available on Art Museum Drive and Charles Street. View a map of the area, as well as more information about parking at the BMA.

Large bags and backpacks are not allowed in the galleries. We have a designated area where you can store such items during your time with us. If there are essential items that you must carry through the Museum, please place them in a smaller bag before entering the galleries. You may borrow a clear vinyl tote from the Visitor Experience desk to bring into the galleries. Additionally, no food or drink is allowed in the galleries.
