Meet us in the Joseph Education Center Studio to create a container for what is precious to you inspired by artist Dyani White Hawk’s (Sičáŋǧu Lakota) Carry pieces, on view in the John Waters Rotunda as part of the Preoccupied: Indigenizing the Museum initiative at the BMA. This program will be led by Megary Sigler, Family Programs Educator at the Baltimore Museum of Art.
Megary Sigler has been sharing her core belief that every person is an artist with the Baltimore community for over 20 years. She graduated from MICA with a Master’s Degree in teaching in 2003 and has since devoted her career to teaching students in Baltimore schools to nurture and trust the artist within. Megary’s artistic practice is centered on exploring the parallels between the mundane and the magical as well as queer and feminist themes involving female presence and power.
She works in clay, paint, and collage media and writes fiction and poetry as well. A Baltimore native, Megary believes in the strength and beauty of this wonderfully diverse city and is deeply grateful to all those who are working to make it ever more vibrant and inclusive.
